How To Reconnect with Nature

No matter where you are or what you’re doing, there is always time to reconnect with nature. Whether you are enjoying snowfall, a lovely spring day, or a brisk autumn walk, you can always find time for a nature walk. These days, it can be hard to see the forest for all the trees. We may be surrounded by nature, but many of us rarely stop to appreciate it. The culprit? The imagination. The world is filled with amazing beauty, and we fail to see it because of our own minds. In order to reconnect with nature, we have to learn to see the world the way it is.

Go Walking For At Least 30 Minutes

Living in the suburbs can make it easy to forget the beauty of the natural world around us. That’s why we’ve created an app, aptly named “Nature,” to bring our community closer to Mother Nature. The app is designed to make it easy for you to use the five senses to find inspiration, get outside, and reconnect with nature.

According to the World Health Organization, as of 2017, nearly 15% of the whole world population leads a sedentary lifestyle. This number is even higher for the younger generation: in industrialized and urbanized countries, the proportion of people who do not exercise is 25% or more. With these statistics in mind, it is no wonder that the idea of a 30-minute walk in a park or a leisurely stroll on the beach has become a popular notion among people who do not exercise.

Go Searching

On a daily basis, some of us are missing out on the natural beauty that surrounds us. It’s time to reclaim our environment by learning to forage for what we need. Whether it’s a homegrown flower, a rare mushroom, or a game bird, there’s no time like the present to learn how to collect wild food. Foraging can be as simple as learning how to identify common wild mushrooms such as ceps and forked fungi. It could also involve collecting a variety of wild berries, digging up tubers, and hunting for game birds around your community. In the event that you plan to go hunting, make sure you get yourself a quality gun through a gun giveaway, or by some other means, and the appropriate firearms hunting license.

Getting away from city life can be a great way to clear your head and give you a boost of inspiration for the workweek. But what about foraging? It can be intimidating to think that you might be able to go out and find all your own food. But, the truth is, it’s not as hard as it seems. Picking your own food is on the rise because consumers are looking for more natural, eco-friendly foods. And, once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables than ever before.

Grow Something

The best way to become one with nature is to grow things, nurture and care for plants, and harvest the growing flowers and vegetables. You can even make arrangements to spend more time with your greens. Not only will the garden help you activate your senses, but it will also help you keep calm, and so is the power of nature and fresh air. In case you do not have spare time to spend with your plants, you can actually consider doing some of your everyday tasks from the garden itself. For instance, you can take tea breaks or have lunch with your family, sitting in the garden. All you might need for that is one of those handmade bespoke dining tables and probably a shade to enjoy your little breaks sitting in the center of the garden.

Forage and hunt

For starters, you could pick up mushrooms, berries, roots, fruits, and herbs when you go for walks to an area far from the hustle-bustle of cities. What you pick would surely be better in quality, plus the concentration of microplastics would also be lesser than what you would see with market produce. You could then move on to easy hunting techniques and catch small prey such as rabbits, birds, and fowl with the help of lures and traps.

Once you feel confident about your skills, you know it’s time to get the right gear for your hunt. Of course, you would have to keep in mind the hunting policies within your region, state, or country; these laws are in place to prevent the overhunting of animals. Respect your hunt as well as the habitat. Keep in mind that there should be a balance in the animal population in the area to not affect the ecosystem negatively.

The advantage that primitive people enjoyed over modern humans is that they lived in the lap of nature, and did not need to ‘reconnect’ to it. They would grow, forage, and hunt their food to survive. While their lives were harsh, it wasn’t as tense and fast-paced as the lives of people today. By adopting a few of their practices, you could find it easier to live more naturally.

That being said, this year, we welcome our first guest author to the blog, a talented gardener from Yorkshire who, as the name suggests, will be growing a garden in his front yard. As the world turns, much of that nature is disappearing. From cities to suburbs to the farmlands to the wilderness, the wilds of the natural world are shrinking in size at an alarming rate.

Being one with nature is as simple as taking a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of nature around you. Whether you are looking at a snow-covered mountain or a forest glade, you can gain a lot from experience. At the least, it would allow you to understand the importance of nature. You can thereby become a spokesperson for conserving the planet by eliminating pollution. Unfortunately, not many people are lucky in seeing the beauty nature holds, which is why pollution seems to be peaking in the current era. Acres upon acres are filled with plastic and non-biodegradable waste. The air is full of toxic microparticles, and the water we drink is filled with contaminants that are slowly contributing to genetic mutations unfavorable for humans and animals. However, all these could have been easily resolved, only if people could learn to appreciate nature. Plastic products like packaging bottles could have been replaced with biodegradable bottles and containers, which would have caused fewer landfills; the factories would have emitted less polluting gases; and the water would have been free of toxins. Alas! Making this happen, might take a long time!

The truth is that not all of us are lucky enough to live in the country anymore where nature is free from pollution, and we can spend hours looking at the stars at night and riding a horse in the morning. Not to mention that if you live near a city, you usually feel obligated to go shopping and visit the mall. This can be a very stressful and unhealthy life for some people.
